Poem : " Love's Portrait "

“Love’s Portrait”
By Patricia Britt

What is Love?
Is it the evolution of the spirit?
Is it hot fire in motion that soothes the soul?

Is it falling rain that envelopes the peace in your heart?
Yes it is what it is!

It’s all that and more straight to the true blue resolution of your  core,

Then again it's the bliss of contentment within a canvas of respect.

Love's answer is to search no more,

Yet explore.

The Golden Globes Awards

The Golden Globes Awards
by Patricia Britt

12 Years A Slave won the Best Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes. A well deserved honor for English director “Steve” McQueen. He humbly accepted the award for the powerful portrayals he evoked, thanking his wife, and acknowledges the equally humble producer, Brad Pitt (www.makeitrightnola.org). Pitt was probably absent so Mr. McQueen would have his time to shine.

The Golden Globes best motion picture award shows hollywood is moving towards fairness for African American historical epics, and will broaden chances to compete in more genres in the entertainment marketplace in due time.

Fashion Favorites: Lupita Nyong’o‘s (Yale Graduate) red cape, with an elegant caressing bodice was the gown of the night. Paula Patton (Jumping the Broom) made an entrance in Crème like a Hollywood house wife can! Zoe Saldana (Star Trek / Avatar) wore a unique airy whimsical peach, and black sparkler that caught the lights on stage. Taylor Swift looked classic in a red & black dress. Tina Fey’s Burgandy & Amy Polar’s forest green showed off their hourglasses. Sophia Vergara looked regal in simple black elegance, accented with a gorgeous necklace departing from the typical mermaid mesmerizer. Kate Blanchet wore it well with a lacey back plunging silhouette. There was a silver metallic number that was great too. Usher was dapper as always.

The Blah Report: An orange fitted dress might have been better than the blasé’crème black belted selection for Jennifer Lawrence. Julia Roberts dress was to business casual. Kelly Osbourne’s dress was atrocious as usual.

Television : The Bachelor Another Season of Love & Attraction

Television : The Bachelor Another Season of Love & Attraction
by Patricia Britt

Juan Pablo is the newest Bachelor for ABC 2014 premier. He appears to be the perfect caliente' Prince Charming any girl would want to settle down with, and help him raise his daughter. Along the way a select few will get to explore exotic locations for another most likely wild season, with a house full of women competing for attention, and romance that's sure to be a Valentine's surprise for the loyal tv audience taking another vicarious adventure thru March.

Juan Pablo seems like a classy guy choosing a conservative Opera singer for the 1st impression rose. Love is in the air.Who'll get the ultimate rose .... from this stylish guy, and world traveler, time only knows?

Revised March 2014  Juan Pablo chose Nikki over Claire. Claire was livid, and Juan Pablo became one of the least favorite bachelors according to the entertainment news shows, especially after he chose not to declare his love for Nikki. Maybe he, and Nikki are two of a kind, and loved taking a fantastic journey around the world and dating each other for however long it lasts without marriage. The Bachelor - The Bachelorette competition has always been a bit ruthless, and haven't all resulted in marriage.

Perhaps Juan Pablo had some consideration; He might not have been ready to claim Nikki as his hearts dream, even if he sees her as marriage material. Second he might have wanted to ask dad first when they both decide it's time for the next level. Third just because he's the first solo Latin Bachelor in a decade doesn't mean he's going to get married, just because of a tv show, when he's not a 100% sure.

Then again he might be in the Bret Michaels school of thought, only time will tell the story. Juan Pablos good looks could carry him in the public eye for a decade.

Phase II: Roses are a precious, and beautiful flower for any girl to pray for from a golden boy no matter the shade, except when it comes to Wendy Williams. As usual her focus was that Juan Pablo might be the most "hated Bachelor" in history repeating the word on the tv streets, like a Parrot, and adding once again essentially that Juan Pablo's caliente wasn't the average Desi Arnez, Ricardo Montalban, Esai Morales, or William Levy's (Movie: Single Mom's Club, Single Ladies) caliente? You can get a lot of mileage out of entertainment shows with hate these days on just about any channel.

I could be wrong, but there are all kinds of Latins from the East Coast, to the West Coast, to Mexico, to Greece, to South America, to Spain, to Portugal, to Italy, to Puerto Rico, to Brazil and all points in between. www.oprah.com has a few segments about colorism, if you want to get into the unity, or seperation issue depending on your style. Wendy Williams loves to roar, and roll through a show. Whew exhausting!

Apartment & Car Tips: Parents, Girlfriends, Boyfriends, Sons & Daughters

By Patricia Britt

21St Practicalities for Home:

Everyone should know a little something about practical matters.

The best gift you can get anyone on a budget in a new apartment are Corelle unbreakable dishes. Look on line before you select a pattern from a department store so you’ll know what you have to choose from.

They run around $40.00, and will last years without routine replacement, until you can get those designer dishes.

Tip 2: World Market has the steadiest most durable silver wear you can buy one at a time until you have a set that won’t easily tarnish that you’ll have to replace.

21St  Practicalities for Cars:

Tip 1 : On the Road : have the tech at Jiffy Lube check you round filter in the front of the car for dirt. Have the tech show you how to take it out and what to look for then you can go to automotive store, and replace it yourself next time. If Jiffy Lube will service everything (inflate the tires etc.) for $20.00 get it all done there, and be pampered. Needless to say regular oil changes will make your car last longer.

Tip 2 : On the Road : Most gas stations carry a small bottle a little smaller than a water bottle that’s essentially water. You poor it in your gas tank, and it evaporates the water from your gas tank so your car will start on the first try in the Winter months.

Some modern cars don’t need this product, and it could mess up your ignition so be sure to check at the automotive supply store first if your make, and model needs it.

Check back for the product name.

Tip 3 : Invest in locking gas cap.

Tip 4 : Put a nickel, or a quarter in the tread of your tire. If the Nickel fits in the tread, and is even with the top of the tread your tires are ok for winter snow weather. Google a Nickel, or Qaurter on Google to determine which measurement to use.

If you can see the coin sticking over the tread groove double check with a professional if you need new, or used tires to make it through the winter without skidding.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Years girls…

21st Century Art Education : Parents / Tweens : Creative Series

by Patricia Britt

Art is an infinite gift for a talented child in the choir, band, sports, who can build any Lego project in minutes, etc, or a quiet child that you see something special in their crayon pictures, or sketches then here’s some see art suggestions below.
From the time I picked up a pencil I became an artist many years ago, and am still one to this day no matter how sporadic my drawing interludes are. Right now it’s been a few years between serious 2-6 hour sessions to complete a good work. Although my work is mediocre, I always like it, because I always capture the eyes, which are the window to the soul, and reinforces my talent. I’m working up to a session soon, I can feel it in my limbs as I organize my supplies to relaunch the best hobby in the world.

Supply Requirements :

1. Strathmore Drawing Pad ( medium weight) 2. metal pencil 3. Old fashioned pencil hb8 or your preference from an art store 4. A tissue, or Kleenex for shading if you’re drawing a human, or a flower 5. a flat gray gum eraser to lightly eraser tiny, or large amounts of mistakes.

Art Supply Source: Hobby Lobby Art Supply : Book : Animation 1 Learn to animate cartoons step by step ~ book by Preston Blair

This book has a double ISBN #
isbn13:978-0-929261-51-5
Isbn – 10:0929261-51-5

www.walterfoster.com  is the distributor If I could buy every child in thru k12 in, or out of school an art program this book is the equivalent, because it has the silly fundamentals of art in goofy characters. It runs about $10.00.

Say you have a child who’s good at art takes two or three classes, and hones their talent on their own with the supplies above. Then where do they go with it? Are there classes in the neighborhood or at a safe distance from home? Do you, or the child have an Ipad to collect images for a drawing source? Does the family subscribe to  magazines like the Avon catalog, Ebony, Cosmopolitan, GQ, Car magazines, and even People so the child can practice on portraits the child finds interesting to draw, and not give up, because it’s just an average tiny gumpy picture with a nerdy pose, or are the guy models saying I can conquer the world, and the girls are saying come closer to see my heart, just not to close with their eyes, if portraits are your preference.

With portraits you should use both types of pencils until you get a feel which one suits you best.

If architecture is your specialty potential stick with mechanical pencils.

Beyond sketching I’m at a loss for the techniques of art, but this can get you started.

The best item to begin with is a good animation book carried by Hobby Lobby.

Once you have these supplies you can started on your own. To get back to the initial question where does the child, teen, adult go from here? You draw the same character 100 times until you’re satisfied that it looks like the original in all aspects, but feel free to move to a different character if you’re having difficulty, because the goal is to master the entire book. That can take a month, a year, or 10 years. But once you have the elements of animation portraits are easy.

Art Instruction Studios is one avenue for testing after you’ve mastered the book, although for most people there is a fee, they may have scholarships.

Your goal with art can be leisurely for yourself, or you can improve as your goal to be a graphic artists learning computer software, or fine artists using oil paints.

To draw for yourself is an easy therapeutic way to loosen up, and feel like you’ve achieved something.
Sometimes the Lord gives us a multitude of gifts to develop that gives us personal satisfaction, and possibly a career. Explore art, and see what happens.

Merry Christmas families…

2013 TV Critique : Mini Series The Bible

21st Century Television Critique & Comment

By Patricia Britt

The mini series The Bible is pretty close to what I’ve grown up with, and studied in various bibles. The bible is definitely worth watching again to pick up the nuances, and apply it to your reading material if you have a more traditional bible where you need clarification, and reinforcement of the principles outlined as a Christian since it was a well acted drama , and not the Bible itself.
The Bible was produced by Roma Downey (Touched by an Angel), and her husband Mark Burnett producer of a couple wild wild west shows like Survivor, and Celebrity Apprentice that don't exactly follow Christlike behavior.
December 25th is the holiest day for Christians, noting the day one man, named Jesus Christ changed, at the very least how we measure time thru his example of love for humanity, healing,  spiritual freedom to worship God when he walked the Earth 2,000 years ago. The purity of the bible, and the faith is the description of how Jesus lived his life in an example anyone can aspire to whether you choose to believe (John 11:26), or not.
