The Golden Globes Awards

The Golden Globes Awards
by Patricia Britt

12 Years A Slave won the Best Motion Picture Drama at the Golden Globes. A well deserved honor for English director “Steve” McQueen. He humbly accepted the award for the powerful portrayals he evoked, thanking his wife, and acknowledges the equally humble producer, Brad Pitt (www.makeitrightnola.org). Pitt was probably absent so Mr. McQueen would have his time to shine.

The Golden Globes best motion picture award shows hollywood is moving towards fairness for African American historical epics, and will broaden chances to compete in more genres in the entertainment marketplace in due time.

Fashion Favorites: Lupita Nyong’o‘s (Yale Graduate) red cape, with an elegant caressing bodice was the gown of the night. Paula Patton (Jumping the Broom) made an entrance in Crème like a Hollywood house wife can! Zoe Saldana (Star Trek / Avatar) wore a unique airy whimsical peach, and black sparkler that caught the lights on stage. Taylor Swift looked classic in a red & black dress. Tina Fey’s Burgandy & Amy Polar’s forest green showed off their hourglasses. Sophia Vergara looked regal in simple black elegance, accented with a gorgeous necklace departing from the typical mermaid mesmerizer. Kate Blanchet wore it well with a lacey back plunging silhouette. There was a silver metallic number that was great too. Usher was dapper as always.

The Blah Report: An orange fitted dress might have been better than the blasé’crème black belted selection for Jennifer Lawrence. Julia Roberts dress was to business casual. Kelly Osbourne’s dress was atrocious as usual.
